And my big worry is that making Bilbo be more proactive here will give his battle with the spiders less of an impact. And Thorin's "I didn't like you but now I do" speech was cheesy and too close to his powerful deathbed scene" - This really really bothered me, and I couldn't have said it any better. The whole cliff scene was so obviously contrived. Azog had 20 minutes to kill the dwarf prince, then after telling his army that no-one was to touch him, Azog turns over his execution to a random orc that took 5 minutes to walk over to him. <br />Also the obvious CGI of the goblins/Orcs pulled me out of the story and made it obvious we were watching a movie rather than experiencing it.
